It builds knowledge of the physical structure and prepares the ground for the practitioner to learn the various Shadow Yoga Forms. This work is based on preparatory exercises (vyayamas), which have the specific purpose of correcting imbalances in the feet and legs and reducing what is in excess in the body and mind, while strengthening the muscular skeletal structure and breathing mechanism. Uddiyana bandha is introduced in the supine position. Suitable for: mandatory for beginners to Yoga and highly suggested for students coming from other disciplines of Yoga regardless of previous experience, as it forms the basis for the next levels. This immersion course acts as an excellent refresher course for those who have been practicing the Shadow Yoga preludes for some time as well. 6-DAY MITAHARA AND SHADOW YOGA INTENSIVEApril 7 - 12 7:00 - 8:00am Spring time is most conducive to making changes to diet and lifestyle as the nature of the season supports the birth of new habits. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika emphasizes the importance of practicing the Yama of Mitahara, the appropriate intake of food, as determining success in Yoga practice. The practitioner should only consume those foods that are conducive to easy digestion and in quantities that can keep the body and mind clear and light. The focus of this Intensive is to facilitate the release of deeply held toxins and habitual patterns that may keep us stuck in destructive behaviors, not allowing us to recognize clarity or to experience the depth of our potential energy. Cleansing works on many different levels. Toxins occur in the foods we eat, the air we breathe, the emotions we harbor. Cleansing our cells must be our biggest priority for long-term health. This intensive is for those interested in understanding the cycle of illness and dis-ease, motivated to heal themselves through diet changes and physical practice of Yoga asanas. Basic eating principles from Ayurveda and a restricted diet will be utilized along with Shadow Yoga movement. Suitable for: students who have completed a Balakrama Course. "By controlling the palate one gains control over the body and the mind, the blood is cleaned, the breath becomes powerful and one gains good bones, marrow and gentle speech." - Zhander Remete INTRODUCTION TO YOGA PHILOSOPHYMarch 19, 26 and April 27:00 - 8:00pm$54Today's popular practice of Hatha Yoga has been derived from ancient literature based on specific philosophy.
